Nathaniel’s Neighbor Volunteer Network
You can be Nathaniel’s Neighbor. Help us bring hope home.
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:39
“Love your neighbor as yourself.” – Matthew 22:39
Imagine having a child with special needs (a VIP). You’re standing at the sink, bills on the counter, laundry humming, dishes stacked high, dinner still uncertain. Your VIP smiles at a favorite song, but the day feels heavy. Then, there’s a knock: a pizza, a small birthday banner, or a hand-drawn card, and someone asking, “What can we do for you?”. The home feels better with someone else there. You can exhale. Your VIP beams, someone came just for them and for you.
What does it mean for someone to be a good neighbor? Possibly,
- A visit from someone in the community to celebrate a birthday, milestone, or accomplishment with you and your VIP.
- A visit that reminds you you’re not alone.
Nathaniel’s Neighbor invites and connects VIPs with individuals, families, and churches to bring practical and heartfelt hope to VIP families, one simple act of kindness at a time. Be the knock. Please help us bring hope home.
Two ways to get involved:

1) VIP Family Interest: Request a Home Visit Celebration
Nathaniel’s Neighbor Network would like to celebrate your child’s birthday, a hard-won milestone, or a special accomplishment with you. Let us know what you’re hoping for, and our volunteer community will do their best to show up with joy and care.
- What a visit might include:
- A doorstep celebration (cards, balloons, small treats).
- A short visit filled with encouragement, music, or a simple “happy birthday”.
- What a visit might also include:
- A pizza or a favorite treat.
- Help with a practical task.
Important note: We can’t guarantee a volunteer will be available for every request. Our network is made of neighbors doing their best to love well. If a match is possible, we’ll coordinate a time that works for you.
