What is MAKE ‘m SMILE-fari

As a result of COVID-19, in 2020 and 2021, Nathaniel’s Hope got out of the box to create a totally unique event to celebrate kids with special needs (VIP Kids) of all ages and their families!

The annual MAKE ‘m SMILE party brings together a crowd in downtown Orlando at Lake Eola, but it was cancelled in 2020 due to Coronavirus, a significant concern among the medically-fragile special needs community. Nathaniel’s Hope, however, recognized the toll and extraordinary stress level Covid-19 brought on VIP Kids and families, felt it was more important than ever to do something to bring laughter and joy to this community. MAKE ‘m SMILE-fari was such a success, we did it two years in a row!

Up to 1500 pre-registered VIP families cruised caravan-style in the comfort and safety of their own vehicles through Wild Florida’s Safari Park in Kenansville, FL. VIP families participated in a special scavenger hunt and had opportunity to spot more than 200 exotic and native Florida wildlife, all while being warmly greeted by volunteers and cheered on by special celebrity characters as they arrived. Each car received a special Safari Gift Bag including gift certificates, beverages, packaged snacks and a listing of helpful resources in the community.
